Thought about taking the morning off, and sleeping in, but I can never resist a good sunrise. Watching the local morning news, I was watching the news channel helicopter flying around and well I had to get out of bed, ran outside in shorts (Its only 38 Degrees F/3 Degrees C) outside currently, but had to see if I could capture the sunrise. Needless to stay I only stood outside for a total of about three minutes snapped a grand total of 5 quick shots, and came inside freezing my well you know what off! :P
With that being said, Everyone have a super fantastic weekend!

Well Autumn has started to make its appearance here. The leaves are starting to change, so it means time for more landscape photography! Woohoo! Even though this means Winter is just around the corner (as I've got to be where its warm) I'll just enjoy the warm days, and cool nights for now capturing the moment...

It's raining, it's pouring; The old man is snoring. Bumped his head And he went to bed And he couldn't get up in the morning.
Playing in the rain today thanks to Tropical System Gustav....The rains today canceled my shoots so I decided to experiment....Yep another day of experimentation! Woohoo! This is actually a slow exposure with the flash firing at the end of the exposure. Trying to catch both raindrops and the streaks of rain.

Rainfall from the remnants of Tropical System Gustav will likely lead to widespread rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches across the watch area from late Wednesday through Early Friday Morning. Runoff from this heavy rainfall will create a heightened potential for flooding on creeks...streams...and smaller rivers. In addition...widely scattered thunderstorms with intense rainfall could also lead to flash flooding in some localized areas.
A flash flood watch means thats flash flooding is possible but not imminent in the watch area. People in the watch area should be aware of the possibility of heavy rainfall and flash flooding. Check yoru preparedness requirements...Especially if you live in flood prone areas. Stay informed...and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a flash flood warning is issued.

McCain seems to be in better shape than I thought. I guess the TV cameras don't do him just justice.
The rally was a little bit boring, though. Other folks seemed to enjoy it enough.
I'm pretty sure Mom had a good time. And that's the important thing.
And I apologize for not making a "McDifferent" sign... cardsfan1985 posted a photo:
The bus with McCain and all the other big-timers in the Republican Party pulls in to the stadium. I like how the exit sign looks like it goes on the bus. Anyways, the rally was pretty boring, but I don't think I'm the sort of person that gets too excited by listening to politicians speak. cardsfan1985 posted a photo:

A sign for Memorial Day. Yes a real, road here in O'Fallon, Missouri. If you don't believe me click on the blue "map " link where I took it to see a map. :P (You might have to zoom in to see street names, though.)
Memorial Day is a United States Federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May (in 2008 on May 26). Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. men and women who perished while in military service to their country. First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War, it was expanded after World War I to include casualties of any war or military action. Many people observe this holiday by visiting cemeteries and memorials. A national moment of remembrance takes place at 3 p.m. US Eastern time. Another tradition is to fly the U.S. flag at half-staff from dawn until noon local time. Volunteers usually place an American flag upon each grave site located in a National Cemetery.
In addition to remembrance, Memorial Day is also used as a time for picnics, barbecues, family gatherings, and sporting events. Some Americans also view Memorial Day as the unofficial beginning of summer and Labor Day as the unofficial end of the season. Many Americans use Memorial Day to also honor any family members who have died, not just servicemen.

Well after all the torrential rainfall we had yesterday, the skies let up and led to this sky. The view from the deck. This is the view looking west. Today's weather forecast:
Heavy rains associated with strong thunderstorms will be possible across the area this afternoon and tonight. The ground is already nearly saturated from previous rainfall...So any additional heavy rain could cause flash flooding very quickly. In addition to the flash flood threat, additional rainfall across area river basins will likely cause river levels to rise...and could cause more river flooding across parts of southeast and east central Missouri.
A flash flood watch means that flash flooding is possible but not imminent in the watch area. People in the watch area should be aware of the poissibility of heavy rainfall and flash flooding. Check your preparedness requirements... Especially if you live in flood prone areas. Stay informed...and be ready for quick action if floodling is observed or if a flash flood warning is issued.

FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...
The flood watch continues for: Portions of Illinois and Missouri
*Through Late Tonight A major heavy rainfall event with some flooding is ongoing...With the hardest hit areas in part of southeast Missouri and south central Illinois...And is expect to continue through at least the evening. Rain and Thunderstorms will move repeatedly across the area by early Wednesday morning. Rainfall amounts totalling 3 to 5 inches are expected. With locally higher amounts possible. For Areas south of Interstate 44 in Missouri and Interstate 70 in Illinois. The Heavy rainfall will produce excessive runoff and flooding on some local creeks, streams, and rivers. This will be true on the Meramec, Big, and Bourbeuse, Gasgonade Rivers. Other low lying areas and low water crossings will likely experience flooding as well.
Looks like its time to make an ark!
UPDATE: 4:45 PM March 18, 2008 - The town of Piedmont, Missouri is being evacuated due to flooding, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.
Most roadways have flooded, including Highway 34 east of town and Highway V to the south. All the rivers and creeks have flooded out of their banks. Access to Piedmont is only available from the north.
Poplar Bluff has received six inches of rain and state police said comparable amounts were expected in Piedmont. Piedmont Missouri is about 125 miles south of me and according to the rain gauge that I have on my deck it says we've gotten 4.5 inches of rain so far.
